Starting a WordPress Blog or Website today is not as hard or intimidating as you may think.

The hardest part today is just getting Started!

Are You Ready?

Let’s Do this!

How to Start a  WordPress Blog in 10 Steps or Less tutorial

Contains affiliate links. Using WordPress and BlueHost.
Persistants Guide How to Start a Blog in Less than 10 Steps

Step 1| Blog about Your Passion –What is it that you can’t stop talking about?

Figuring out what to write about daily is not always easy. But it’s the Most Important Step. Grab a piece of paper and a pen and jot down your ideas. Look at what your hobbies, strengths, and likes are and the rest you can always learn as you go. The most important thing to remember is that you must be you. Your Audience will be waiting for you to show up and talk about what you love best!

Step 2| Register your Catchy DOMAIN NAME. – What will you call your blog?

The very first thing you will need to do when starting a WordPress blog on Bluehost is to think about what you want your domain name to be. This can be tough, and I would give some serious thought to this.

Here are some helpful tips on searching for your Good Catchy Domain name.

How do I choose a Catchy domain name?

Choosing a bad domain name is one of the most common mistakes I see bloggers make. Be sure you choose a domain name that is…

  1. Easy to Remember – Don’t choose a nonsense name, something tough to spell, or a long name full of dashes. “www.best-social-media-Persistants-executive assistants-in-the-world.com” won’t ever stick in someone’s head, but something like “www.Persistants.com” rolls off the tongue.
  2. Unique and Descriptive – You want a name that reflects who you are and what you care about. Be creative and build an identity you’re excited about!
  3. Trustworthy – Domain extensions like “.com”, “.org” or “.net” are the most popular, with “.com” being the one most people think of first. Try to avoid crazy extensions like “.rocks” or “.biz”, as these are less commonly used, tougher to remember and not as trusted.

Step 3| Choose a hosting plan – Use a Fast and Reliable & Affordable hosting company like Blue Host.

When it comes to hosting your WordPress blog, there are only two things that matter.

  • Page load speed – The average amount of time (in seconds) it takes your blog to load.
  • Uptime – 99.9% isn’t enough (it’s 42 minutes of downtime per month). Aim for 100% uptime.

There are hundreds of different web hosting providers. They all offer you a similar service (domain + hosting) with a similar price, but since I’ve dealt with and monitored many famous and recommended web hosting companies like Bluehost, HostGator, Godaddy, InMotion Hosting etc…I recommend them all because I have used them all.

Starting A WordPress Blog Is Easier than You Think.

Why WordPress.org vs .com?

If you are struggling with the Why WordPress and need some convincing, you can check my reasons why over here. We discuss all of the benefits as to why self-hosting is the best.

why you should choose WordPress

From BlueHost Dashboard, Make sure you’re under the “hosting login” button.

Once logged in, you’ll be in your account dashboard. The first thing to do here is to install WordPress by clicking the “Install WordPress” button.

Next, Click the “Install” button.

Select which domain you would like to install to. Then, click the “Check domain” button.

Click “Show advanced options” and name your site (you can change it later). You need to create your username and a password (be aware that this username and password has nothing to do with the Bluehost login details). Make sure that the “Automatically create a new database for this installation” is ticked and the Terms button. Now click the “Install now” button.

Congratulations! Your Install is complete. The orange bar indicates that WordPress has been successfully installed.

Check your email, you should have an email from MOJO Marketplace. This email contains your website URL, your WordPress admin login URL, and your WordPress login username. Don’t delete it and put it in a safe place.

The View Credentials page will show you your WordPress dashboard URL, username, and password. Whenever you want to create a new post and sign into the WordPress dashboard you will need to access it through this address.

Step 5| Login to your blog – Get familiar with the backend of your blog on WordPress.

Sign in to your WordPress dashboard.

Create your first post! The sidebar of your WordPress dashboard contains all of your posting and settings tools. To create a post, just choose Posts > Add New. Visit your Settings page to tweak the date/time options, comment settings, and permalink structures.

Your Appearance section is where you can upload Free and Paid WordPress Themes, add content to your sidebar, and more!

Browse through the huge repository of WordPress Plugins for special add-ons and features. That’s really all there is to it!

Step 7| Write your first WordPress Blog posts – Create 3-4 pillar posts to establish your blog and niche.

A Pillar post is your Best Content. Something relevant to your Niche Topic. Write about what your audience wants to learn about or hear about. Go on get writing!

Step 8| Invest in yourself and grow quicker – when you get stuck, invest in ebooks and courses to help you.

You can do this by taking online courses, follow some other popular bloggers and jot down why you like them.

Investing in your- self is key in life and in the online world. There is so much to learn. Start by taking a few courses, ebooks, online courses to get you familiar with all the top tools, in blogging and online Business.

There is so much to learn. Start slowly and get yourself organized. You will be needing a journal for this project or a spreadsheet to track all of the wonderful ideas you will be coming across each moment as they happen. by taking a few courses, ebooks, online courses to get you familiar with all the top tools, in blogging and online Business.

As I said, by taking a few courses, ebooks, online tutorials such as this one to get you familiar with all the top tools, in blogging and online business you will be successful with your Word Press Blog in no time.
